Alex Cannara’s educational and professional accomplishments span a wide spectrum of disciplines, including electrical engineering, education, analytical methods, semiconductor design, and computer security. He graduated Magna cum Laude from Lehigh University in Electrical Engineering, then went on to receive degrees in Electrical Engineering and Statistics from Stanford University. Alex earned a doctorate degree in Math Methods in Educational Research from Stanford, where he also designed experiments and analysis software for plasma physics thesis research.
After working at Ballantine Laboratories, the U.S. Department of Education, Zilog Inc., Mitsubishi Semiconductor, NetPredict, Vitesse Semiconductor, Cisco, and other companies, Alex won the 2011 MIT CoLab contest with his submission describing a molten-salt reactor concept.
